He also got his teaching certificate through the Weber State Education program. He loves history and loves to learn everything he can about it.
Mr. Barr also loves to travel. He eventually wants to visit all 7 continents in the world. He has been to Italy, Spain, France, Morocco, as well as many places in the United States. Mr. Barr loves teaching as well as learning. He is excited for another great year of being a teacher.
My name is Shawn Berry, and I am teaching 6th grade math and choir this year at Quest! I moved here five years ago from Nebraska to begin my full-time teaching career. I previously taught in Nebraska as a substitute teacher and private piano instructor. I grew up in a military family, so my childhood was spent in Idaho, Wyoming, Illinois, Alaska, and Nebraska.
I attended college in Kansas City, Missouri, and Provo, Utah while earning my first Bachelor's degree in Music and afterwards, worked at a music store and taught private piano and clarinet lessons. After staying home with my children for a few years, I returned to school to complete a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education at Peru State College in Nebraska. I also completed my Master's degree in Mathematics Education (K-6) at Western Governors University in December 2017. I thoroughly enjoy teaching math and strive to make it accessible to everyone.
When I'm not teaching, I love to read and play the clarinet and piano. A few times each year, I play with the Chamber Orchestra Ogden at Peery’s Egyptian Theater in downtown Ogden. Check my door for posters! I also love hanging out with my two sons, who are also students at Quest. We like to play video games and watch movies together.
My name is Mikell Beus. I grew up just down the road in Hooper. I got my associates degree from Snow College, and finished my degree at Western Governors in Math Education. Last year I was the math interventionist at Quest, and loved getting to know the students and school. This will be my first year as a full time teacher, and I can’t wait to participate in students’ learning and growth. Math is my passion! Very few feelings parallel the thrill that comes from taking something that seems impossible and breaking it down piece by piece until it is solved.
Outside the classroom I love playing sports (especially basketball, tennis, and pickleball). Learning new things is one of my greatest joys of life. This love has led me to quilting, cake decorating, playing the accordion, guitar, and piano. But more than all these I love spending time with my family and friends, and am lucky enough to have 9 amazing siblings and 16 nieces and nephews.
My name is Yeraldin Garcia and I am originally from Southern California. In California, I attended the University of California Riverside, where I graduated with my Bachelors in Fine Arts. I immediately returned to graduate school and also received my Teaching Credential from the same university.
After marrying my wonderful husband, I packed up my stuff and relocated to Utah. I was very fortunate to have found Quest Academy on my journey to continue what I love doing most- teach! I have been a teacher for 7 years, and have taught 7th and 8th grade ELA. In my career, I also worked with new and experienced teachers as a mentor. This year I am excited to have a new experience and opportunity to teach 6th grade ELA as well.
Being that I am new to Utah, I am loving getting to know the area and the people. My husband, Ricardo has made it his goal to make me more outdoorsy. I was used to city life, and am slowly learning to appreciate the outdoors and the beautiful scenic mountains Utah has to offer.
I am very excited to teach 6th grade. This year I have been assigned to teach Stem Explorations, World History and Visual Arts. I am a graduate of Weber State University where I received a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. We have been married for 29 years and have four daughters of which three have graduated from high school. My husband is a licensed marriage and family counselor and together we share in the belief that providing quality education to children is highly valued and one of the keys to helping children to become self-sufficient. I look forward to teaching at Quest, it’s great to be a RAM!

Hi, I’m Mrs. Jen Jones and this is my third year teaching at Quest Academy, and I love every minute of it. I love teaching technology and programming to kids of all ages and love, love, love the “light bulb” moments when a child finally grasps a complex problem. I have a firmly held belief that learning to create technology, not just use it, is the advantage that will propel the next generation of innovators. I'm excited for the new Astro Class for 8th grade that I will be teaching this year and for the technology in space exploration that we will enjoy together.
In my younger years, I worked on the production teams for major movie/TV studio companies including Disney, SyFy channel and CBS, as an accountant and tax agent for the IRS (I know, boo hiss) and as a graphic designer creating marketing campaigns.
I live in Roy with my wonderful son and husband with whom I have been married for nearly 13 years. I enjoy botany/gardening, camping, techno music (what?!), orchid collecting, crafts, origami, kung fu (I love Kung FUUUUUUU!) and graphic designing. I love to continue to learn and am always exploring new educational adventure horizons. Most of all, I love teaching your wondrous children.
My name is Allison Pfister and I am originally from Page, Arizona, better known as Lake Powell. I moved to Utah when I began my college education at Dixie College in St. George. I graduated from Dixie with my Associate's Degree in Fine Arts then went on to study elementary education at Southern Utah University, where I earned my Bachelor's Degree. I have been a teacher for seventeen years and have taught second, fifth, and sixth grade. I am so excited to teach ELA in a junior high setting, I began working on my secondary teaching degree last fall. I really love singing and the theater. My Associates Degree from Dixie State is in Fine Arts. I spent lots of time from middle school through college singing and performing. Some of my favorite roles were Ado Annie in Oklahoma my senior year of high school and Frenchie in Grease at the Terrace Plaza Playhouse.
I really enjoy reading novels in my free time. My favorite authors, right now, are John Green and Nicola Yoon and my favorite series is the Selection Series. I also like to eat almost every kind of food, especially hamburgers, but I really dislike raw onions. Café Rio and In N’ Out are my favorite restaurants, favorite color is bright blue, favorite movies are Pitch Perfect and Nacho Libre, favorite treat is frozen yogurt, and favorite season is summer, I hate being cold. I love going to plays and musicals!
I also love to travel! This past summer I traveled to Europe with my daughter. We visited Germany, the Czech Republic, Switzerland, and France, I loved the German city of Dresden most of all. We travel to Montana and Arizona frequently to see family but have also been to Mount Rushmore, Myrtle Beach, Washington D.C., New York City, and Hawaii (both the islands of Kauai and Oahu). I adored New York City and enjoyed every minute of Hawaii and would love to go back to each someday. I would really love to travel to Europe again, but this time to see Italy and Greece.
My husband's name is Jason and he works at Hill Air Force Base, we have been married for 21 years. We have two children, Cassidy and Zack. My daughter, Cassidy, is 18 years old and is a freshman at Weber State University. My son, Zack, is 15 years old and is a sophomore at Roy High School. Together we enjoy watching movies, eating out, hiking, bike riding, traveling, and hanging out in our hot tub.
My name is Derick Roskelley and I am excited for my second year at Quest Academy! I look forward to continuing to build the Physical Education and sports programs to help our student athletes succeed.
I graduated from Morgan High School and had the opportunity to play baseball in Kansas and travel the Midwest during my early years of college. I missed the mountains and fishing and transferred back to Weber State University. I graduated in 2011, Majoring in Physical Education and Minoring in Health Promotion. Following student teaching at Ogden High School, I worked in the Ogden School District as a Health and Physical Education specialist at the Elementary level while coaching baseball at Ogden High School. With a talented coaching staff we turned a 0 win team at Ogden into a .500 team in a tough Region 11 in just three short years. Our countless hours of work were rewarded with the opportunity to coach the 2012 3A All-Star game at Lindquist Field.
I have spent the last three years teaching Physical Education, Health, and Weight Training at Oakgrove School working with students with a wide range of backgrounds and learning disabilities. I enjoyed the challenges of teaching my students how to properly compete and set and reach goals.
I love coaching, teaching, and pushing students and athletes to become their very best on and off of the field. I enjoy teaching students how to compete properly and have fun while doing so. Sportsmanship is an important part of my classroom management.
When not teaching or coaching I enjoy spending time with my girlfriend, our two dogs, and two cats. We love traveling in our 1984 Chevy Lindy motor home and spend many summer nights at Bear Lake. I enjoy playing softball, camping, barbecuing and watching a good baseball game, fly fishing all over the West, guiding and teaching older “students’ my passion, and tying and designing local flies.

7th-9th CTE and Business
I’m entering my second year of teaching at Quest Academy. This year I will be teaching CTE, marketing, sports marketing, as well as coaching Basketball, Robotics club, eSports, and school store. Last year at Quest we established an esports club where the students could practice gaming in a safe and controlled environment. This year I hope to have Quest Gaming (eSports) compete against other schools in League of Legends and Rocket League. When I’m not spending my time with the amazing students of Quest you can find me traveling, attending sporting events, and cheering for the Utes. I’m married with 3 phenomenal Quest students of my own.
I am ecstatic to be teaching another year of 7th and 8th grade Math! I knew that I wanted to be a teacher since I was 8 years old and Math is my favorite subject to teach! I graduated from Weber State in 2008 with a double major in Education. Once I completed my Masters degree in Learning and Technology in 2012, I knew I wanted to work in a technology rich school like Quest! I am currently working on a second Masters Degree in Secondary Mathmatics and hope that my students will learn to be life long learners as well! This will be my fifth year here at Quest and 11th year teaching!
Outside of the classroom, I am a wife and mom. I have an amazing husband (who is also a teacher at Quest) who allows me to chase my wild dreams! We are a 24/7 family of 5 (where we are all at Quest full time) and love supporting everything that Quest is as a family! We live in Syracuse but I grew up in Roy where I met and married my high school sweetheart! We as a family love to travel and I might even go so far as to say I am addicted to traveling this amazing planet we live on! We love the Utes (Football and Gymnastics specifically), Lakers and this summer after attending an England vs. Nigeria Soccer game in London, have fallen in love with watching professional soccer (or football as they call it outside of the US)! Most of all we love to spend time exploring and learning as a family and going on crazy adventures!
