Emilia Light

7th Grade

Hi there! My name is Emilia Light and I am so excited to enter into my 5th year at Quest Academy! I originally grew up in sunny San Diego, California. For college, I left California to study at Arizona State University and received a Bachelor’s in Secondary Education with an Emphasis in English. In 2024, I received my Master’s of Curriculum and Instruction from Western Governors University.

This year, I am so excited to teach Creative Communications, which will be a relevant and meaningful mix of creative writing and public speaking. I am so lucky to be able to bring my passions to the classroom by teaching students to communicate their thoughts efficiently and artistically. Strong reading and writing skills are essential for individuals to master for all career paths.

I believe that every student learns and grows in unique ways. Because of this, I am a strong believer that every student should be challenged in their learning at their personal level. I also uphold the value of student voice and choice in the classroom, which are critical to a personalized learning environment. In my classroom, you will see students who have ownership of their learning because the material and teaching are personalized to their needs and passions.

In my free time, I love to read, write, travel, play volleyball, and play video games. When I’m not traveling or teaching, I also love snuggling with my three cats Bobo, Banjo, and Bonk.
